Royal Copenhagen Aluminia Faience wall hanging Toucans sculptures by Jeanne Grut ca 50 cm from the beek to the tale
Jeanne Vivian Grut, was born the 13. December 1927 - Jeanne Grut lived part of her childhood in Ecuador, South America 1930-37 and did later participate in several travels with the Royal Academy of Art to England, Holland, France, Italy, Spain and Greece.

Jeanne Grut was educated in Gothenburg, Sweden at the Swedish Handicraft Society School (Svenska Slöjdföreningens Skola) from 1946-1948. The education was continued at The Royal Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen under Utzon-Frank and Johannes Bjerg from 1950-1955. JG was employed at The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory in 1958 and worked there until 1987. Her main achievement was modeling naturalistic animal figurines in faience, porcelain and stoneware. She did not work after one dimensional photo but took the time to study the animals in the nature and in the Copenhagen Zoo. When it came to the dogs, she took the model into her home and spend weeks with the dog while it was modeled.

Among the most noticeable works of Jeanne Grut is The Blue Fish (The Coelacanth) in live size – done in a soft blue glaze. Originally created as a gift to the Emperor of Japan, who has a exquisite interest in fish, at was presented as a gift during a visit to the Porcelain Manufactory in Copenhagen in 1971. The Blue Fish was later put into production in a straight and a curved version. Of other faience works one should mention the huge Hyacint-ara, which was glazed in a vivid strong blue glaze and the charming musk ox calves in different sizes and a soft doll brown glaze. These works was done at Aluminia the faience and art pottery division of Royal Copenhagen in the period 1961-1969 and the total numbers designs were about 49, of which not all came into serial production
