Description: The Independence Bowl. In 1975. Royal Copenhagen Porcelain mad a limited number of bowls (a replica of a commemorative punch bowl from 1801) to make the occasion of their 200th birthday. In view of the intense interest these have generated amongst collectors all over the world, they found that the signing of the declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776 a fitting occasion to issue this unique Independence bowl. Only 2500 numbered bowls have been made. The sensitive frieze decoration over the glaze (by Royal Copenhagen artist Sven Vestergaard) featuring George Washington at the Battle of Princeton, English frigates engaged by American batteries on the Hudson River, a silhouette of George Washington and a contemporary coat of arms.
